Carrying on our customers who are transporting children or goods, safety is essential to enjoy their journeys with peace of mind. Feeling safe is above all to stop thinking about it and to have blind confidence in your equipment and its design.
We are parents and we use the cargo bikes on a daily basis. We are fully aware of the importance of safety for the little ones we transport.
From the design to the quality control, we are attentive to active and passive safety. The aim is to achieve the best reaction in all situations, from the most routine to the most unexpected.
Be sure, here’s everything we do to ensure that you place your trust in us, without compromise.

The frames and structures of our bikes are designed, even oversized, to carry heavy loads. They are designed and tested to stand up to all tests, and for a long time. Lots of fatigue tests, right up to breaking point, validate our choices. We focus on design and shape to limit damage in case of accident. For example, all the edges are rounded to avoid injuring anyone.
All our frames comply with the European cargo bike standard NF EN ISO 4210.

All Douze Cycles cargo bikes are fitted with hydraulic disc brakes for progressive and powerful braking, whatever the riding conditions. Be sure to keep the braking system in good condition, especially the brake pads, for optimum performance.

We equip our frontload cargo bikes with a cable steering system. This exclusive innovation offers incredible manoeuvrability that is highly precise, adjustable, repairable and durable. Like a power steering system, the movement of the handlebar is slightly reduced for less effort and a smaller turning radius. To go one step further and reassure you, we’ve doubled the cables so there’s no doubt if one breaks (which has never happened before!).

Tyres are the only points of contact with the road. We’ve chosen a range of reinforced, oversized tyres. They are highly durable and capable of carrying very heavy loads.

With all the accessories, such as the top-side tube, the skirt guard, the chain guard or the mudguards, there is no danger of fall or injure. Every dangerous part of the bike has been designed to prevent incidents.

The child seats on our bikes come with adjustable 3-point safety belts. They are fixed to the frame of the bike to absorb all the energy of any impact. Several slots in the Pro board allow you to secure loads properly. All sizes of parcel or goods can be strapped down and perfectly secured. We recommend that you organise the load with the heaviest at the bottom and the lightest at the top, to lower the centre of gravity and increase stability.

Each Douze Cycles bike is fitted with high-performance lighting.. Much more than just a bike light, you’ll be able to see and be seen from a distance. For your safety and that of others, the lighting is always functional, even if the battery is flat. There are also reflectors on each front and rear light, in the wheels and reflective strips on the fabric accessories for even greater visibility.

Some models feature a suspension fork. This reduces road irregularities and gives you better grip. This means fewer falls and greater comfort.

All the motors fitted to Douze Cycles cargo bikes have been extensively tested in cargo use. They all comply with standard NF EN 15194.
We have chosen to ensure your safety with motor protected by a temperature sensor.
The battery is managed by an electronic board (BMS) to protect against overloads, deep discharges and the risk of fire.

Protect your children from the rain, sun and wind with the Canopy. The Hard-top with lock secures your items.

Whether supplied with the bike or as an option, our frame locks and chain locks can easily secure your Douze Cycles cargo bike against theft and vandalism.
Our seatposts can be adjusted without tools, but can only be separated from the frame with a special key. You can even lock the kickstand on the Hêta model with your battery key.

We spend a lot of time choosing the materials that go into our bikes. We want them to be durable and risk-free for you and your children: VOC-free paint, REACH fabrics, formaldehyde-free wood, etc.

These are just some of the safety features that are important to us.
Finally, we encourage you to respect road safety and the traffic regulations of the country where you are using your bike. In France, helmets are compulsory for children under the age of 12, and we strongly recommend them for older children. Don’t forget to wear a fluorescent waistcoat for even better visibility.
You can reinforce your safety with additional equipment such as a GPS tracker, indicators, cycle insurance tailored to your riding style and have your cargo bike engraved.
You should know that no accident is completely avoidable, but that you are perfectly safe aboard a Douze Cycles cargo bike.
